Description

A file of documents relating to the reservation of occupations. Subjects discussed in the file include the manpower and skills shortages caused by the "blacklining" of certain occupations, including technical-grade civil servants and munition workers; proposals to meet the manpower requirements of the armed forces; the modification of the arrangements for the calling-up of men for the forces; and the occupations that are "blacklined"; and the eligible ages for deferment. Documents in the file include lists of occupations for which it is suggested that deferment should ordinarily not be granted for men born in or after the year 1910; lists of occupations for which it is suggested that deferment should ordinarily not be granted for men born in or after the year 1905; and lists of occupations for which it is suggested that deferment should ordinarily not be granted for men born in or after the year 1915.
