Description

A file of documents relating to the reservation of occupations. Subjects discussed in the file include the supply of men employed in vital war occupations; the discharge of men unfit for service; the deferral of service for men in occupations of national importance; a proposal for the relaxation of the schedule in respect of men accepted as volunteers for tank crew duties in the Royal Armoured Corps; and a proposal for the relaxation of the schedule in respect of men accepted as volunteers for air crew duties, including the application of the relaxation to pilot-bomber-navigators in the Royal Air Force, and pilot-observers in the Fleet Air Arm. Documents in the file include a list of occupations in which men may be only accepted as volunteers for the R.A.F. and F.A.A.; and a list of occupations in which men may be accepted as volunteers for the R.A.C. tank crews.
