Description

A file of documents relating to the reservation of occupations. Subjects discussed in the file include labour in the brick industry; the reservation of bricklayers; the cancellation of deferment for bricklayers; and the reservation status of other occupations, including their ages of reservation. These occupations include boot and shoe repairers; peat-moss litter industry workers; the works police at the Kynoch Works of I.C.I. Metals Limited; flour millers; milk-processors, including butter- and cheese-makers; wholesale textile distributors; knitters of fine-gauge full-fashioned hosiery; canvas and canvas goods manufacturers; wood-heel manufacturers; abrasive paper and cloth manufacturers; and fitter-erectors employed on pumps. Other subjects covered include the cancellation of deferment for men under twenty-five years of age; future meetings on reservation policy; and the ages of reservation of sheet-metal workers, aircraft metal fitters, fabric hands and riggers, hay trussers not on agricultural work, sugar-beet refiners, and coffin-makers.
