Subjects discussed in the file include the definition of news photographers as camera operators and not as editorial staff; the relaxation of the recruitment of men with reserved occupations as R.A.F. air pilots and observers; and the reservation of certain occupations, including food executive and National Registration officers, the editorial staff of photographic agencies, members of the Admiralty Civil Police, shipbuilding timekeepers, pencil-lead makers, household waste salvage workers, paper manufacturers, battery-makers, and motorcycle dispatch riders employed by government departments. Other subjects covered include the temporary deferment of conscription; the deferment of certain local government staff in air-raid precaution work; the verification of the occupations of volunteers; and amendments to the age of reservation for certain occupations, including drainage, sanitation, and refuse-collection workers, hydraulic and mechanical leather-makers, wool-sorting graders, paper manufacturers, agate workers, and animal by-product trade workers.
