Subjects covered in the file include a description of the city; a synopsis of the attacks; the extent of the physical damage; civilian and civil defence personnel casualties; the effect on morale; the operations of the Civil Defence Services, including control-room staff, wardens, and the rescue and casualty services; the police control of traffic and the public; and the provision of mortuary space for casualties. Other subjects covered include the organisation of the Fire Guard; air-raid shelter provisions; post-raid services, including the provision of information, rest centres, billeting, food supplies, and military aid; post-raid salvage, demolitions, repairs, debris clearance, and burials; and recommendations for defence against future attacks.
