Subjects discussed in the file include the additional provision of public shelters; the provision of indoor shelters; problems with surface shelters constructed with lime mortar; the number of persons sheltering in tube stations during the nightly raids; the inspection of shelters by the authorities; and the number of bunks installed in shelters, including provisions for adults and children. Other subjects discussed include provisions for electrical heating inside shelters; medical service provisions, including medical aid posts, medical staff, and nurses; sanitary issues including disease and verminous infestations; the day-time and night-time capacities of shelters in each local authority, including public and basement shelters; and the provision of personnel for the nursing services.
