Description

A file containing miscellaneous documents relating to the establishment and early stages of Nuffield College's Social Reconstruction Survey. Documents include correspondence between academics at the University of Oxford and government officials; multiple drafts of a questionnaire on town and country planning for use as part of the survey; a memorandum formally establishing the survey; and supplementary documents that were deemed useful for the survey. These supplementary documents include a copy of the Bulletin of the Institute of Statistics, Oxford; summaries of papers given at a conference on international economic agencies; and a note on statistics that may be available at the regional offices of government departments. Other documents in the file include correspondence arranging meetings; inquiries into the cost of urban development; and lists of the areas to be covered and of the names of regional investigators.
