ON CORRESPONDENCE RELATING TO THE REPORT BY PROFESSOR RAISTRICK ON THE PRODUCTION OF FAT. I. Reference D.F.I. 17/19/17. Paragraph 4. The attention of the Committee is called to the L.T.R.S. investigations on the Synthesis of Fat from Crotonaldehyde (surely this means fatty acids and not true fat, otherwise where is the glycerol derived from). Crotonaldehyde is readily and cheaply synthesised from acetaldehyde and if the Ardeer process for the manufacture of fermentation glycerine were used, large amounts of acetaldehyde would be available (see later comments on paragraph 4 (d) of Dr.
