Comments by Professor T.P. Hilditch on correspondence submitted of the Scientific Committee on Food Policy with reference to Production of fatty etc. 1. I am in general agreement with the views of Mr. Barnard and Dr. G.S. Whitby (S.F.C.(41) 51, I and II). 2. I fear that the observations I shall make here and have made in my recent draft report on Fat Requirements, etc. may give the impression that I am reactionary, or for some reason opposed to the undoubted progress and enlargement of potential resources shown by the various processes for manufacturing glycerine, fatty acids or fats which have come foward in the past decade or so.
