It follows directly from the preceeding paragraphs:- (a) That the amount of edible material (including offals) measured in calories is for any given fat percentage a definite proportion of the live weight. (b) That for any given weight the amount of edible material in a beef steer is connected with the live weight by an equation which includes the square of the percentage of fat contained in the body and this rises exponentially with the percentage of fat in the body 6. As an example Missouri steer 524 with a live weight of 799 lbs.
