WAR CABINET. SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE ON FOOD POLICY. REVISED DRAFT ELEVENTH REPORT. CANNING OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. 1. The Committee have examined the question of canning in relation to wartime needs. 2. They are informed that the Services are fed on fresh food wherever possible and that the use of canned goods is restricted to positions and times when normal cooking is impracticable. In consequence they have assumed that Service requirements must have absolute priority and have confined their inquiry to the requirements of the civilian population.
