DRAFT EIGHTH REPORT. Note by the Joint Secretaries.

1. In view of the recent increase in shipping losses we ha###e considered it necessary to give immediate reconsideration to th### question of national nutrition. 2. We have considered the question of importation and home production of foodstuffs and their inter-relationship. 3. On the question of home production we have set out our views in S.F.C.(40) 50. 4. We have had an opportunity, which we greatly appreciated of close informal discussion of the document with the Ministrie### of Agriculture and of Food and we find that we are in substantia### agreement as to principles.
