FOOD SUPPLIES AND IMPORTS. Note by the Joint Secretaries.

17 Sep 1940

NUTRITIVE VALUE OF FOOD SUPPLIES ON THE BASIS OF A 15,000,000 TON IMPORT PROGRAMME. 1. An estimate has been made of the quantities of food, both home produced and imported, which would be available for human consumption in the event of it becoming necessary to reduce the total food and feedingstuffs import programme to 15,000,000 tons per annum. The estimates of home produced food are based on anticipated acreages under the various crops and assuming that the yields will be equal to the average of the 10 pre-war years.
