A.R.C. 4929/M. AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL. The production of human food (in terms of Energy) by the Grassland of England and Wales. Memorandum by the Chairman. Throughout the war of 1914-18, in spite of rationing, and of a temporary shortage of certain staples, the food habits of the nation changed but little. In the first 8 months of the present war it would be true to say that they have hardly changed at all. The efforts of the Ministry of Food have been concentrated, and except in the case of butter, bacon and sugar, successfully concentrated, on preserving the nation's normal diet.
