(i) Largely increased production should be aimed at in the case of carrots, onions, cabbage (including spring cabbage, cabbage grown for spring greens and savoys), kales, and peas for canning and packeting. These combine the advantages of high productivity per acre, general popularity with consumers, and availability for winter and early spring consump- tion. (ii) There should be some increase in the acreages devoted to parsnips, red beet, beans (all species), spring greens other than cabbage (rape, etc.
