SUPPLIES OF ### SEEDS AND ###GETABLE ###LS. THE SUB—COMMITTEE had before it a Memorandum (Paper No. F.P.(O)(40) 1) by the Ministry of Food on Supplies of Oil Seeds and Vegetable oils. SIR HENRY FRENCH explained that Oil Seeds and Vegetable Oils were needed as raw materials for the manufacture of Margarine and cooking fats, and also for ammunition, soap and other industrial purposes and for animal feeding stuffs. The output of Margarine had lately increased by an amount not far short of 50%. This increase was probably, in large part, due to the short supplies of butter, the distribution of which in recent weeks had approximated to the amount needed under the present rationing programme.
