16 ###EREALS POSITION. THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before it a Memorandum ###.P. (0)(39) ###oncl. 5. ###st Mtg. (F.P. (0)(39) 10) by the Ministry of Food on Supplies of Wheat and other Cereals. As regards this Memorandum, it was emphasised by Sir Henry French that the most important consideration is the number of weeks' supply of wheat at the port granaries and flour mills, at present amounting to rather less than six weeks' supply for human consumption. It was pointed out by the Chairman that the Memorandum did not furnish information as to the position after the end of March, 1940, and it was agreed that a Table should be added to the Memorandum giving an estimate of the supplies of wheat, imported and from home production, likely to be available in each month from December to June.
