III. SINKINGS AND AIR RAID DAMAGE. Losses of food and feedingstuffs at sea in September, 1942, as reported up to 13th October, amounted to 32 thousand tons (4.2% of arrivals plus losses) as compared with 74 thousand tons (8.8%) in August, 1942, and 87 thousand tons (7.1%) in September, 1941. Losses in September, 1942, included 11 thousand tons of meat and 3 thousand tons of each of wheat, oilseeds and canned corned meat. Losses in the first nine months of 1942 were 333 thousand tons (3.8%) as compared with 681 thousand tons (5.
