1. FOOD SITUATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. THE COMMITTEE had before them a fortnightly report by the Ministry of Food (covering the week ending 27th December, 1941) on the supply of certain foods and animal feeds. F.P.(M.)(42)1). THE MINISTER OF FOOD gave details of the food situation as it had developed up to the 3rd January, 1942. Food Imports. Total arrivals under the Ministry of Food programme for the year 1941 had been within approximately 250,000 tons of the target figure of 15 million tons. Arrivals for the week ending 3rd January, 1942 had also been good at 306,000 tons but the outlook for the future was much less favourable.
