Roots:- Turnips and Swedes - good progress; weeds more prevalent than usual owing to lack of labour for cleaning; average yield forecast at about 111/4 tons per acre - 1/4 ton 1 than last year and about same as average for preceding 10 y### acreage is 58,000 greater than last year and production is estimated at 536,000 tons more. Mangolds - good crop, but weeds troublesome; ave### yield forecast at 18 tons per acre - 1/4 ton less than last ye and than average for the preceding 10 years; acreage is 36, greater than last year and production is estimated at 612,00 tons more.
