3. CALVES 4. SHEEP Country (a) Trend of Marketings. During the two weeks ended September 6th, 1941 the number of calves purchased for slaughter was 31,645, which is over 2,000 less than during the previous fortnight, and 4,787 (or 13.1%) less than during the corresponding two weeks a year earlier. With the exception of one week in February this is the first time since comparable figures have been available, that the number of calves slaughtered has been less than in the corresponding week of 1940.
