1. FOOD SITUATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. THE COMMITTEE had before them the Fortnightly Report (for the week-ended 1st November, 1941) of the Ministry of Food, F.P.(M)(41)121, and also the Monthly Report for September, W.P.(R)(41)64. With reference to F.P.(M)(41)121, THE MINISTER OF FOOD drew attention to the variation in the weekly arrivals of food and foodstuffs. This was not accidental but was due to the fact that shipping and cargoes had to be diverted to the Middle East. Fortunately the stock position in the United Kingdom justified some risk being taken.
