1. FOOD SITUATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. The Committee had before them - (1) Fortnightly Report by the Ministry of Food (F.P.(M)(41)107); (2) Monthly Report for August, 1941, by the Minister of Food, (W.P.(R)(41)59). Meat. It was stated that home-killed supplies of meat were keeping low and in consequence stocks in cold storage were running down. The reasons for this were the ban on the importation of Irish store cattle and the fact that the exceptional autumn flush of grass was inducing farmers to keep their beasts so long as there was good feeding.
