LIVESTOCK POLICY. (Previous Reference: F.P.(M)(40) 40th Mtg., Conclusion 3 (c)). THE COMMITTEE had before them a memorandum by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (F.P.(M)(41) 9) covering the First Interim Report of an Interdepartmental Conference on Livestock Policy. The recommendations of the Conference (summarised in paragraph 24 of their Report) were (i) that immediate propaganda should be initiated in order that farmers might be placed in possession of the full facts of the situation; (ii) that steps should be taken to restrict imports of store cattle from Eire; and (iii) that the Ministry of Food should be empowered to enter the store market when such a course appeared desirable.
