Haven and Fleetwood, but enemy activities arising from the occupation of the north coast of France have rendered necessary the laying of extensive mine- fields by the Admiralty which, in their turn, have rendered fishing more difficult even from the west coast ports mentioned. It will be understood, therefore, that, although in succeeding paragraphs figures are given for the present catches of white fish and herring, it is impossible to state with any certainty how far these supplies may be maintained in face of the above considerations.
