14 Sep 1940

PIG POLICY IN WAR TIME. Memorandum submitted through the Secretary of State for Home Affairs by the Minister of Agriculture for Northern Ireland. It is agreed (1) that first preference in the supply of imported feeding stuffs should be given to Dairy Cows; (2) that although the pig is the most economical converter of cereal feeding stuffs, whether imported or home grown, the present pig population of the United Kingdom can only be maintained if the greater part of these feeding stuffs is produced from our own soil.
