4. SCALES OF RATIONS FOR A.T.S. The new system of messing was, for administrative convenience, also applied to the A.T.S., who receive four-fifths of the soldiers' scale. This represents, in admissible quantities of "rationed" items:- Meat 8 ounces Sugar 2 12/35 " 1 " Bacon Butter 2/5 " Bread 9 3/5 " (not rationed) Examination of the messing account of selected A.T.S. units indicates that, prior to the introduction of a fixed ration scale, units of the A.T.S. habitually underdrew in:- Meat Bacon Tea and devoted the monetary savings so accruing to the purchase of other items.
