Accordingly the Minister of Food is called upon, between now and the end of June, to secure that an adequate Cheap Milk Scheme shall, in one form or another, come into operation on 1st July or as soon after that date as possible. It will be necessary for him to make a statement to Parliament on milk policy during the week ending 15th June at the latest; and a decision on the general principles of a Cheap Milk Scheme and its financial implications is thus required by that time. 3. In these circumstances we think it right to bring this matter again before the Food Policy Committee, and to ask the Committee to consider the attached outline of a Cheap Milk Scheme, the details of which can be elaborated and amended by the Departments concerned if the Scheme is approved in principle.
