In the case of women it had originally been proposed to reduce the daily quantities of meat and bacon issued by 1 oz. each; but after further consideration it was decided to reduce the quantity of meat by 2 oz. and leave the quantity of bacon at its present figure of 2 oz. 5. The circular letter of 9th March 1940 (a copy of which is attached) also directed that special care should be taken to avoid waste of any kind, and in particular that rations that would not actually be consumed should not be drawn, e.
