MEAT RATIONS. ARMY: Memo. by War Office.

10 Apr 1940

(b) Troops on leave of absence for 10 days from the British Expeditionary Force. 6. The earliest Army messing period during which all the above reductions will be operative is that commencing on 27th April and terminating on 31st May, and it will be some little time later before the exact results can be assessed. It is, however, estimated that, based on present strengths, the daily reduction in the amount of meat consumed by the troops quarter###d at home (or on leave from the British Expeditionary Force) will amount to at least 30 tons a clay, or, during a complete messing period of 28 days, some 840 tons.
