most expensive imports of their kind which enter the U.K. Bacon is being subsidised directly by the Treasury and indirectly by Empire producers. Danish butter is sold by the Ministry at a price considerably below its duty paid cost. The small profit at which total supplies of butter are being sold is made possible only by the relatively low prices at which Empire supplies are being obtained. The following table shews the prices at which butter is being purchased from principal suppliers by the Ministry:f.
