1. FOOD SITUATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. THE COMMITTEE had before them Weekly Report No.43 by the Ministry of Food (F.P.(M)(40) 137) covering the period from the week ended 10th August to the week ended 7th September inclusive. THE MINISTER OF FOOD gave to the Committee the following figures of losses due to enemy action in recent weeks. What was much more serious than the loss of the commodities them- selves was the loss of production, processing, and storage capacity. During the fortnight 1st September to 15th September, 1940, the air raid losses were approximately as follows:(a) LONDON fortnight 1/9/40 15/9/40.
