SURRENDER OF REQUISITIONED ACCOMMODATION: SERVICE DEPARTMENTS (Previous Reference: L.P.(A)(45) 1st meeting, Minute 2) THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER said that the Service Ministers had been invited to the meeting in order to give the Sub—Committee their views on the proposal that they should reduce the accommoda- tion occupied by their headquarters' staffs by a specified percentage over a certain period. The pressure for the surrender of requisitioned accommodation in London was extremely great — both in order to provide offices for the resumption of business activity and to meet the increasing needs of Departments concerned with reconstruction.
