Reallocation of Accommodation in Government Offices, Whitehall, South Block, vacated by G.H.Q. Home Forces. MEMORANDUM BY THE MINISTER OF WORKS AND PLANNING.

25 Mar 1942

The former allotment to the War Cabinet Offices has been reduced, as Sir Edward Bridges decided, in view of the scarcity of accommodation in the building, not to press for the return of the Central Statistical Office. He has reserved the right, however, to re-open the question should the Statistical staff have to leave their present accommodation in Church House. 4. As regards the basement space vacated by G.H.Q. Home Forces, amounting, to 11,700 sq. ft., it is proposed that this shall be allocated to the War Cabinet for the concentration of their Joint Planning and Intelligence Organisation.
