WYCOMBE ABBEY The Committee had before them a memorandum SCHOOL. by the President of the Board of Education regarding the proposal of the Air Ministry to requisition Wycombe Abbey School, Buckinghamshire, for the use of the United States Air Force. THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR AIR said that the impending arrival of the first American Air Force units in this country made it urgently necessary to find suitable premises for their Bomber Command Headquarters. The American Air Officer Commanding had stipulated that his units should not come over to this country until their Headquarters had been provided and fully equipped.
