GOVERNMENT OFFICES, WHITEHALL; SOUTH BLOCK. The Committee had before them a Memorandum by the Ministry of Works and Buildings (L.P. (A) (41) 2), showing the present allocation of the building and explaining the need to obtain some relief by moving out certain of the staffs at present housed in it. I. In the course of a provisional discussion, the Committee reached the following general conclusions:— (i) The staff in this block is more tightly packed than is desirable in a building which houses Departments directly concerned with the prosecution of the war, and which it must be assumed is liable to heavy air attack.
