(e) The period during which this process is taking place cannot be prolonged indefinitely. Long—term planning must be dealt with by new legisla- tion. It is impossible to forecast how long Parliament will allow the Defence Acts to continue, but it seems unlikely that a renewal after demobilisation has been substantially completed will be possible.
