DURATION OF EMERGENCY ACTS, OTHER THAN THE EMERGENCY POWERS (DEFENCE) ACTS. Opinion of the Law Officers of the Crown.

30 Mar 1944

2 emergency period as varying in duration for different Acts, because obviously the transitional phase need not be of the same length in relation to different subject matters. For example, the Goods and Services (Price Control) Acts 1939 and 1941, will be needed so long as goods remain in short supply and there is a consequent danger of inflation, a state of affairs which may exist for som### years after the end of all hostilities. The Ships and Aircraft (Transfered Restriction) Act, 1939, is part of the scheme of national control of shipping and air transport resources and may be required to meet exceptional post-war demands as well as the demands of the war itself.
