Publishers Association. Letters and Memoranda sent by Mr. Walter Harrap, President.

30 Jun 1942

2. Report referred to by Mr. Harrap in the above letter EXPORT There is one aspect of books that has not so far been publicly discussed and which I have hesitated to develop until the right moment arrived. As you know, various Departments of the Government are turning their attention to what our Press likes to call Post—War Reconstruction, and particularly is this the case with those who are responsible for our export markets. It is generally believed that this country will be in grave difficulties after the war unless our export trade can be satisfactorily reinstated, and some of the finest industrial brains are at the present time considering this important aspect of the nation's affairs.
