The Sub-Committee had before them a Note by the Secretary of the Cabinet (H.A. (I) (45) 1) Setting Out their composition and terms of reference. THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER suggested that it might assist them in their task of "supervising and controlling the development and execution of Government policy for securing the balanced distribution of industry" if the Chairman of Panel "A" of the Official Committee on Distribution of Industry were to provide monthly statistical reports of progress, with the assistance of the Central Statistical Office, which the President of the Board of Trade might then circulate for information.
