4. FOOD Losses of Foodstuffs from enemy bombing were very small and mainly confined to retail shops. A tea warehouse at Sunderland was damaged, but no Ministry of Food stocks of tea were involved. 5. POST OFFICE (a) Postal Services. The Sorting Office and three Town Sub-Offices at Ashford were damaged on 24th March. A rural Sub-Office in the Kingsbridge area was slightly damaged on the same day. (b) Telecommunications services. The trunk cable between Ashford and Canterbury containing 216 pairs of wires was damaged on 24th March.
