SUMMARY OF DAMAGE IN THE PERIOD 3rd MARCH TO 10th MARCH 1943

1,726 houses were damaged in the London Civil Defence Region. No damage was reported from Scotland. 4. FOOD. Food shops in Dover, Deal, Folkestone and Ramsgate were damaged by cross-channel shelling on 2nd March. 5. RAILWAYS. On 3rd March, the engine of a passenger train fell into a bomb crater between Shenfield and Ingatestone. Both lines were blocked. Traffic was diverted to other routes; an emergency bus service was put into operation; and traffic restrictions were imposed. Normal working was resumed by 9th March.
