4. GAS AND ELECTRICITY GAS Considerable damage was caused to the gas works plant at Bexhill on 28th January by H.E. bombs. Supply to Hastings was cut off. A limited supply had been restored by 29th January and on 30th January there was a supply sufficient for all normal requirements. Minor damage was caused at the gas works at Portslade on 31st January by a sea mine. ELECTRICITY Thirty-six reports of damage to Grid Overhead Lines, probably caused by drifting barrage balloons, have been received. 5.
