B. DETAILED SUMMARY OF AIR RAID DAMAGE IN THE PERIOD 6TH-13TH MAY, 1942. I. HOMELESS. After the raid on Cowes on the night of the 4/5th May, 6 Rest Centres were opened to accommodate between 500 and 600 homeless persons. These were all billeted during the day and the centre closed. By 5th May all the homeless in Norwich had been billeted or been able to make their own arrangements and all the centres were closed. On the night of 10th May, there were 58 persons in one Rest Centre in Exeter; no other centres were occupied.
