There were 1,200 homeless after each of the raids on York (28/29th April), Norwich (27/28th April) and Exeter (3/4th May). After the second raid on Norwich (29/30th April) there were between 2,000 and 3,000 homeless. A number of fir### and second line rest centres were put out of action. The centres have been rapidly cleared by evacuation to rest centre### in the surrounding districts and by billeting. For a few nights after the raid on Exeter on the 28th April there were a considerable number of trekkers but these decreased considerably within a few days.
