VIII. OTHER COMMUNICATIONS. Ports. A report was received on 9th March that a parachute mine had exploded in Tyne Dock at 2120 hours on 8th March causing damage to the railway line. A bomb also exploded on the railway south of Tyne Dock cutting off electric current and causing dislocation to railway services. IX. GAS AND ELECTRICITY. Electricity. A number of cases of damage to Grid and other Overhead Lines by drifting barrage balloons were reported in North East and Mid-East England. While there were some small losses of supplies at a number of points in the area of the North Eastern Electric Supply Company, on 6th March, the only major interruption due to this cause was at Darlington, where 20,000 kw.
