1. DAMAGE TO FOOD STOCKS. THE MINISTER OF FOOD gave details of the damage to food stocks as follows:- Flour 6,000 tons half a day's consumption Sugar 13,600 tons half a week's consumption Cheese 1,000 tons two days' consumption Tea 2,000,000 lbs. two days' consumption and minor losses of bacon, meat, coffee and cocoa. There had been some loss of productive and storage capacity through the destruction of flour mills, cold storage, margarine factories, and oil and cake mills (animal feeding stuffs).
