DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT) SECRET L.P.(45) 237 COPY NO. 14TH NOVEMBER, 1945 CABINET LORD PRESIDENT'S COMMITTEE WAR MEMORIALS Memorandum by the Lord President The Prime Minister has asked me to seek the help of the Committee on the possibility of giving some official advice about the form of proposed war memorials. He considers that the Government should give a lead to bodies which are considering war memorial schemes and should point out the inappropriateness of erecting a crop of stone crosses and monuments such as were put up after the last war.
