BRITISH RESTAURANTS Memorandum by Minister of Food.

2 Nov 1945

by the Local Authorities (Community Kitchens) Order, 1941, made under Regulation 54B of the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939. These powers will expire with the Emergency Powers (Defence) Act in February, 1946, but provision for their temporary extension in the immediate post-war years is envisaged under the Supplies and Services (Transitional Powers) Bill. 4. Future and Need for Statement. Some indication of the Government's policy in regard to the long-term future of British Restaurants, as distinct from their position during the transition from war to peace, appears now, however, to be desirable.
