RENT CONTROL. FURNISHED LETTINGS Memorandum by the Minister of Health.

NOTES 1. A short measure to implement some of the recommendations of the Ridley Committee on Rent Control was included in the Schedule of Bills recently considered by the Legislation Committee (H.P.C.(45) 21st Meeting) under Category I ("essential Bills which must be passed this Session"). No decision, however, was taken as to this Bill. 2. I have since considered the matter, and I am satisfied, with all due regard to the heavy claims on Parliamentary time, that there is an urgent need for legislation to control the rents of furnished lettings and of premises let with services.
